      Job summary

      Our recently refurbished Emergency Department has an exciting and rare opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated senior paediatric nurse with a passion for delivering excellent patient care and leadership direction to join our dedicated and friendly team.       We are recruiting Senior Clinical Lead Nurses following an evidence based establishment review, which has increased our nurse patient ratio and aligned our skill mix, to include this exciting opportunity. This role includes dedicated non clinical time to develop the Children's and Young People agenda within the Emergency Department and strengthen links with other HDFT services for children and young people to promote excellence in Children's nursing care delivery.

      The ED is led by experienced Department Managers; Rachael Worton and Elvira Obrinja, and a supportive Matron; Amy Carr. We are looking for hard working motivated individuals to support our ED Matron and Department Managers to ensure the best possible standards of care.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will have the opportunity to support and lead elements of a developing Trust wide children and young people's Strategy which aims to deliver excellence in care provision for children and young people

      The post holder will have the opportunity to lead and develop innovative ways of working with paediatric nursing teams across the urgent and emergency care pathways.

      The role will work collaboratively with the other members of the team to promote a culture of safety, learning from experience, and promote best practice for children and young people.

      The role will support nurses to realise their full potential as adult and children's nurses, always placing children and their families at the centre of care.

      The post holder will contribute to determining how objectives set for the service delivery in the department will best be achieved in line with national and local standards for children and young people.

      The post holder will support the other Lead Nurses with the clinical and administrative aspects of the department and ensure cost effective use of resources.

They will provide regular clinical care to patients and work alongside staff in the department in order to maintain clinical competency and provide clinical supervision to staff.       • oEvidence of recent and ongoing professional development
      • oEvidence of competency in teaching and assessing ( Mentor qualification or equivalent)
