      This position performs various clerical duties involved in circulating library material, shelving books and maintaining library materials, as well as assisting the public in person and by telephone with routine library information.

      This job requires walking, standing, bending, and lifting of objects that weigh 20-50 pounds. Candidates must be able to work nights and weekends...schedules vary.

      Applicants will be considered to fill full-time Civil Service, part-time and grant funded temporary vacancies within the library system as they become available.

      • Checking out library materials.
      • Accepting and processing applications for library cards.
      • Locating library materials on the shelves.
      • Collecting overdue fines and fees.
      • Reserving library materials for patrons.
      • Emptying book drop.
      • Preparing books and magazines for circulation.
      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
      High School Diploma or Equivalent.




      Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

      Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
      • Keyboarding skills and computer knowledge

      • Public library experience
      • Bilingual Language skills
