      General:

      • Supervise work processes and evaluate the performance of Circulation Staff and Student Workers affiliated with the position
      • Teach information literacy skills as requested
      • Support and participate in special events hosted by Beaman Library
      • Collaborate with other Beaman employees to create displays highlighting the book collection
      • Represent Beaman Library on an campus wide academic committee
      • Enthusiastically support the mission of Lipscomb University and of Christian higher education

      Circulation:

      • Supervise Circulation Assistant
      • Hire, train, and supervise Circulation Student Workers
      • Approve bi-weekly timecards for Circulation Staff
      • Maintain accurate catalog as it relates to circulation activities
      • Maintain course reserves materials
      • Oversee checkouts, overdue fines, and book replacement fees
      • Issue Alumni/Special Privilege Cards
      • Manage the shelving integrity of the print collection; Supervise re-shelving of books
      • Supervise ongoing shelf-reading and weeding project
      • Maintain library-owned technology
      • Collaborate with Education Dept. about education kit checkouts
      • Manage the use of study rooms and maintain supply box in each one
      • Teach information literacy classes for Freshman Seminar and other classes as requested by professors
      • 1 night a week rotation with other librarians at Reference Desk; possible occasional weekend hours
      • Serve student needs regarding circulation of print collection

      Collection Development:

      • Communicate with department heads and other faculty to access print needs
      • Evaluate print collection needs in collaboration with departments and develop fiscally efficient purchasing strategies that adhere to print collection budget
      • Purchase print resources
      • Participate in occasional original cataloging

      This position requires a Master's Degree from an ALA-accredited MLIS program. The working conditions are a general office environment (sedentary with some standing and walking) and requires light physical activity. It requires normal courteous interaction and basic interpersonal skills and tact to communicate with others.
