- The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
- Respond to written and oral inquiries from the public, other organizations, governmental agencies.
- Provide non-routine information and assistance on complex applications to applicants/petitioners and/or their legal representatives in response inquiries on all aspects of immigration and nationality law.
- Research basic eligibility for benefits and privileges under the final approval of a senior employee or supervisor.
- Perform appropriate record keeping and reporting tasks and capturing essential statistical data for monthly reports and assists in the preparation of those reports.
- Provide office automation advice, guidance, and assistance to staff.
- Perform case file analysis and evaluation of cases where adjudication or resolution has been delayed and/or problems encountered.
- Using computer software such as spreadsheets, databases, or word processing;
- Interacting with customers; OR
- You may substitute successful completion of 4 years above high school for the experience required at the GS-05 grade level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.

- Maintaining data for reports or supervisory inquiries;
- Routing office support materials to the appropriate person or location.
