      Duties


      • You will serve as a Civil Engineer in the Desin Branch, Civil and Structural Section, Public Works Division, G-F Department.
      • You will perform the duties of lead designer and coordinator for projects involving other engineering disciplines
      • You will serve as the sole designer for projects involving complex civil, structural, foundations/soils, or site problems requiring extensive research or broad application of engineering principles.
      • You will plan, develop or direct development of the civil engineering design objectives, balancing functional requirements against technically sound and economical alternatives within the latitudes allowed by governing criteria and regulations.
      • You will provides technical guidance to other architects, engineers, and technicians.
      • You will perform technical reviews of the civil engineering aspects of design packages developed by firms or other government design agencies consisting of drawings, specifications and design analysis.
      • You will provide support to construction managers and engineering technicians in resolving conventional and highly complex civil engineering problems prior to, during and after project construction.
      • You will review and coordinate required or requested modifications to contract plans and specifications throughout the construction phase of a project.
      • You will apply civil engineering theories and practices relating to water supply, wastewater treatment, site development, storm drainage, transportation, parking structure, and building foundations.

      Requirements

      • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
      • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
      • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
      • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
      • Driving a motor vehicle in activities such as inspections of installed equipment and visits to construction sites and industrial, commercial, and other business establishments.

      Qualifications


      GS: 09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing engineering work in the preparation of civil engineering to include designing, drawing, providing specifications of construction, alterations renovations for structures such as maintenance, training, and housing facilities; other areas include rail roads, bridges, and wastewater utility systems.

      GS: 11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: recommending civil engineering work assignments, maintaining control over work progress to ensure timely accomplishment, advice and assistance on various work aspects; compiling and preparing technical schedule and cost data.


      GS: 12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience performing duties independently, exercising an extensive professional knowledge of the technical aspects of civil engineering, controlling regulations, guides, and designs; participating in predesign, design review, and other meetings and conferences.
