      The Clerical Support classification performs a wide range of clerical activities from simple, repetitive clerical duties and responsibilities to moderately complex clerical duties and responsibilities that have a significant impact on department operations. New assignments are performed initially under immediate supervision with instructions given in detail and covering specific work matters. As the employee becomes familiar with the specific work methods and procedures, their work is performed with some independence of action.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Prepares, receives, reviews, and verifies documents; maintains office records; locates and compiles data or information from files; compiles information for reports;
      • Maintains office files.
      • Performs moderately complex public contact work by giving information regarding Network functions and answering routine questions. This classification forwards complex and difficult questions to appropriate departmental staff.
      • Types simple assignments not requiring rapid machine operation on typewriter or personal computer.
      • Receives, screens, distributes, and sends departmental mail.
      • Keeps schedules and appointments; arranges meetings for departmental staff.
      • Performs moderately complex clerical assignments or related duties and responsibilities that assist departments in fulfilling organizational objectives.
      • Performs related work as assigned.

      REQUIRED EDUCATION:

      A High School diploma, GED, or its’s equivalent.

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

      At least one (1) year of full-time paid clerical work experience in an office setting, preferred.

      REQUIRED LICENSE(S).

      A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

      WORKING CONDITIONS :

      Work is usually performed in an office setting but requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan. This position can work remotely with supervisory approval. Currently this position is primarily a remote position.
