What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and interpret clinical documentation to assign accurate diagnosis (ICD), procedure (CPT), and other relevant medical codes
- Leverage coding software, manuals, and regulatory references to ensure compliance
- Apply foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to guide code selection
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to audit findings and coding reviews
- Mentor peers to improve overall coding quality and consistency
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Active credentials: Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and/or Certified Coder (e.g., CPC, CCS)
- Minimum 5 years of experience with CPT and ICD coding (surgical, hospital, and/or clinic settings)
- Experience in health insurance billing and coding, especially within Payment Integrity or audit functions
- AHFI (Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) certification
- Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, production-focused environment
