What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and ensure the integrity of clinical documentation in health records
- Educate and communicate with healthcare providers regarding documentation standards
- Conduct concurrent reviews of patient health records for accuracy and completeness
- Formulate compliant clarifications and queries in line with documentation integrity procedures
- Collaborate with coding staff to ensure comprehensive documentation of patient diagnoses
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate/Diploma Degree in Nursing, Health Information Technology (HIT), or an advanced degree in nursing or as a Physician Assistant
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an inpatient coder or clinical documentation specialist in the absence of a degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and documentation tasks
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Current Registered Nurse License or relevant certifications (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCDS, CDIP)
- Experience in Critical Care, Medical or Surgical Inpatient Care Nursing
- Familiarity with databases, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills for educational purposes
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse environments
