What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform thorough medical record reviews to ensure accurate documentation and coding
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to improve clinical documentation quality
- Educate clinical staff on documentation standards and best practices
- Identify and address opportunities for improved documentation and coding compliance
- Participate in service line rounding and provide ongoing education to provider teams
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's Degree in a health-related field or a diploma in Nursing (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years in a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist role (Required)
- At least 3 years of clinical and/or ICD-10 coding experience, preferably in a large academic medical center (Required)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) (Required)
- Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) (Required)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field
- Experience using clinical computer systems in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of disease pathophysiology
- Advanced skills in building relationships and teamwork in a clinical environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment
