What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform concurrent analytical reviews of clinical and coding data to improve physician documentation
- Conduct initial and follow-up reviews of patient records to assign accurate diagnoses and procedures
- Query physicians for additional documentation regarding unclear or conflicting health records
- Educate healthcare providers on the importance of accurate and complete documentation
- Collaborate with coding professionals to resolve discrepancies and ensure DRG accuracy
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
- Additional 2 years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, PA, NP, or medical school, or Associate's degree with CCDS certification
- Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) from ACDIS
- Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially Excel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Prior experience reviewing patient safety indicators (PSI) or specialized mortality reviews
- Strong understanding of clinical documentation improvement practices
- Experience in educating healthcare teams on documentation standards
- Ability to conduct independent research on clinical topics and coding guidelines
