      Job Description

      The Quality Nurse improves patient care and safety by monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating the quality of healthcare services. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement best practices, conduct audits, analyze data, and develop performance improvement initiatives. Requires a strong understanding of healthcare regulations, quality metrics, and performance improvement methodologies.

      Job Responsibility

      • Applies Performance Improvement (PI) methodology to enhance healthcare services.
      • Maintains current knowledge of nursing informatics trends, advancements, and technology to support users and process teams.
      • Prepares and presents PI reports for committees and external benchmarking.
      • Conducts focus studies to assess process stability, patient outcomes, and organizational goals.
      • Investigates incidents, complaints, sentinel events, and citations; develops corrective actions.
      • Participates in quality improvement projects, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
      • Prepares variance reports for leadership, physicians, and staff.
      • Elevates patient-specific issues and concerns to appropriate leadership and committees.
      • Utilizes technology and databases for reporting, presentations, and documentation.

      Job Qualification

      • BSN nursing degree, required. Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed
      • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse OR as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State OR current Licensed Registered Physician Assistant by New York State Department of Education, required.
      • One-three (1-3) years clinical experience including general knowledge of QM principles, NYPORTS and JCAHO requirements.
