      Exciting opportunity to join a team conducting research to reduce cancer disparities among underserved populations at the Cedars Sinai Cancer Research Center for Health Equity (CRCHE). Dr. Vanessa Torres conducts community engaged research and develops culturally tailored behavioral interventions with a focus on addressing risk factors for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) among Latinos.

      We seek a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) and bicultural Clinical Research Associate to help coordinate and manage a feasibility study offering an intervention to reduce Sugar Sweetened Beverage (SSB) and alcohol consumption among Latino patients with cirrhosis. The position will involve building rapport, enrolling, and onboarding participants into the study, collecting survey data, administering interviews, and conducting behavioral counseling sessions. The study procedures including the intervention will take place at the Pasadena Liver Center. The candidate must be organized, self-motivated, self-directed, and autonomous, demonstrating independence, assertiveness, critical thinking, and problem solving-skills.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities

      • Conduct behavioral counseling with enrolled participants (in Spanish)
      • Conduct baseline surveys and interviews (in Spanish)
      • Maintain accurate and timely documentation (i.e., assessments, data management using REDCap)
      • Analyzing qualitative data using Dedoose or ATLAS
      • Schedule patients for research visits and research procedures.
      • Assist with regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) including submission of Adverse Events, Serious Adverse Events, and Safety Letters in accordance with local and federal guidelines
      • Responsible for sample preparation and shipping and maintenance of study supplies and kits
      • Participates in required training and education programs
      • Extract data from Electronic Medical Records
      • Contribute to- or lead peer-review manuscripts (based on interest)

      Hiring qualifications:

      • Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency of Spanish
      • High School Degree or GED required.
      • Organized, self-motivated with great interpersonal and communications skills; attention to detail; Excellent communication, writing and typing skills (spelling, grammar, syntax)
      • Part of the interview will include a brief verbal Spanish proficiency review

      Preferred:

      • Experience in qualitative research and behavioral counseling
      • B.A. or B.S in public health, psychology, counseling, or related degree
