      Season - Spring

      ATHLETICS SUMMARY:

      We believe the primary purpose of an interscholastic athletic program is to educate youth and assist in the development of their character. We feel that athletics play a major role in the total educational process. It is our belief that we are responsible for fostering the ideals of good sportsmanship, self-worth, pride in individual and team accomplishments, personal integrity in human relationships and respect for others and one’s self.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Capable of coaching all phases of the sport.
      • Assist in administration of contests.
      • Need to attend all practices.
      • Supervise locker room - home and away.
      • Available for home and away contests. This may include some Saturday commitments.
      • Be able to drive team vans.
      • Demand strong team discipline and sportsmanship.
      • Following all coaching duties listed in CPSD and WIAA handbooks.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High school diploma or GED.
      • Valid and up-to-date First Aid/CPR certification PRIOR to beginning coaching experience.
      • Valid Washington driver's license and proof of insurance.
      • Meet coaching certification standards as set forth by CPSD and the WIAA.
      • *Fingerprints prior to beginning coaching experience at the expense of the employee (Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance).
      • Head coach must be at least 21 years of age
      • Assistant coach must be at least 19 years of age

      DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Current certificated employee of CPSD.
      • Previous participation in the sport.
      • Previous coaching experience.

      AFFILIATION: Athletics and Activities Association/CPEA

      SALARY: As per negotiated collective bargaining agreement.

      WORKING CONDITIONS

      Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat. Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals. Afternoon, evening and some weekend work is required.

      *Stipends prorated based on start date. Internal candidates may be placed on a longevity step of the pay scale per corresponding collective bargaining agreement.

      CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

      Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

      **CPSD/AAA/CPEA Section 6.2.1 "In order to be eligible to receive payment, coaches must have completed all training required for the position and the necessary hiring paperwork (online application, I-9, fingerprinting, SafeSchools training, etc.) with Human Resources prior to stepping on the field/court. Additionally, to receive the full stipend the coach must be hired and working by the eighth (8th) practice of the season. Volunteer coaching is uncompensated. Any time spent coaching prior to the completion of the above requirements would be considered volunteer coaching. Coaches will be compensated from the date above requirements are completed, and will not be retroactive to the start of the season."

      Insurance Benefits

      Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

      Retirement and Deferred Compensation

      Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information, check on the link to the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.

      Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
