What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign CPT/ICD-10-CM codes and Modifiers to medical diagnoses and procedures
- Review patient information for accurate coding and billing purposes
- Educate physicians and staff on documentation requirements for proper reimbursement
- Assist with patient accounts and billing processes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of medical coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC or equivalent certification
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10-CM, and computer programs
- Ability to interpret coding guidelines and medical charts accurately
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate’s degree in billing and coding from an accredited school
- Experience in GI procedures, general surgery procedures, and pharmacology
