What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Code emergency room and outpatient records accurately
- Work on CCI/medical necessity edits as required
- Monitor unbilled accounts for emergency rooms and outpatients to ensure timely coding
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards of 95% or greater
- Complete continuing education as mandated to stay current in coding practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a coder program with a score of 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam
- 0-6 months of work experience in medical coding
- Demonstrated knowledge of Basic ICD-10 coding and anatomy and physiology
- Proficiency in PC and software applications
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification in Coding (CCS) preferred
