What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Abstract and code hospital gastroenterology services and diagnoses (inpatient and outpatient)
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD9 codes to all medical encounters
- Provide feedback and training to physicians and staff regarding documentation and coding
- Conduct audits and reconciliations to ensure all charges and coding are accurate
- Communicate billing and coding updates to physicians and staff, resolving any discrepancies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
- Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in a relevant role
- Achieve 94% accuracy on the organization's coding test
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a Health Information Management program accredited by CAHIIM
- Previous experience with physician coding
