Job Description

- Ensure the strategies for college ministry are implemented at the congregation and university.
- In collaboration with congregation leadership, plan, lead, and execute College connection, equipping, and mobilization efforts.
- Recruit, develop, equip, and resource College volunteer teams, leaders, and coaches.
- Ensure College ministry resources (human and material) are effectively and consistently deployed, aligning with congregation ministry strategies and policies.
- Collaborate with congregation leadership and provide timely and effective communication.
- Provide general shepherding care of college students, volunteers, and leaders.
- Report on and assist the College Director with assessment of ministry effectiveness, making improvements as needed.
- Maintain records and steward the allotted ministry budget.
- Teach at training meetings, on-campus events, and Sunday classes as needed.
- Maintain and further healthy relationships with other on-campus Christian organizations.
- Support special projects as assigned.
- Attend and participate in all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services (including major holidays), staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, retreats, training opportunities, and staff development days.
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree, preferred
- 2 years of experience in a vocational ministry role, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience shepherding people and providing pastoral care, preferred
- Experience leading volunteer teams, preferred
- Occasional lifting of objects or children up to 30 pounds.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, and similar machines.
Summary
As part of the Downtown Congregation team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the College Lead (CL) will be responsible for producing a network of missional communities that makes disciples, mobilizes students toward local and global mission, and generates momentum for the gospel at universities in and around the city of Austin. The College Lead will report to the Congregation Executive Pastor or Spiritual Formation Director/Pastor.

Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence. Able to create and manage a ministry budget.
Interpersonal Skills & Communication - Energized by meeting, engaging and connecting with others. Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Able to negotiate and make effective presentations to diverse groups. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Able to teach and train in a variety of settings.
Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality.
Leadership Development - Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead resident/intern teams. Proven capacity to multiply leaders (staff, deacons, volunteers, etc.) who hold and can communicate the church's values.
Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders. Demonstrated ability to network and connect with leaders toward Kingdom outcomes. Collaborate across the organization and with various ministry partners. Cultivate purpose-driven, relational networks.
