Plant/Service Specialist (Technician)
- Act as Street Service A (crew leader) over what will normally be a Plant crew engaged in leak repair, service line installation and all phases of Plant work.
- The Plant/Service Technician will drive an assigned truck, maintain truck inventory and handle necessary paperwork. The Plant/Service Technician will be responsible for the work while at the job
- The Plant/Service Technician will also be responsible for all types of customer service work and other related work necessary to render gas service to
- The Plant/Service Technician must be available for overtime, emergency, and call-out work for both Plant and Service
- Must have a CDL within 24 months from the date of

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and be able to use various tools in the installation and repair of gas distribution facilities.
- Perform basic math calculations, prepare legible records and understand written and oral communications.
- Must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven track record of comprehending and implementing company policies and procedures.
- Requirement to maintain applicable OQ qualifications.
- Must be able to pass applicable plant and service strength tests.
- Must be dependable in terms of adherence to deadlines and presence on the job.
- Requires skills in reading/interpreting gauges and dials.
- Must be able to be certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
- On call, able to work overtime and respond to emergency call-outs.
- Must be able to read and interpret highway prints and company inventory maps.
- Must be able to document records, understand oral and written communications and prepare legible orders.
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete assignments with little or no direct supervision.
- Requires ability to organize and prioritize duties
- Must have strong oral and interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by successful interactions with others where tact and diplomacy are needed.
- Must have a safe work & driving record to operate company vehicles.
- Must have demonstrated computer experience.
- Appropriate class of driver's license is required. Required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License.
- Twelve months of gas distribution, construction, plumbing or equivalent work experience preferred, but not required.
- Computer software experience preferred.
- Experience in the plumbing trade or in field operations in the natural gas industry is preferred
- Acts as lead employee over one or more employees engaged in pinpointing leakage, making repairs, and replacing services or portions of mains.
- Testing and inspecting service lines according to policy/procedures and approved codes.
- Must be able to use various types of tools needed for repairs of plant facilities.
- Must be able to prepare legible records and understand written and oral communications.
- Must have ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations concerning pipeline safety and underground construction practices preferred.

- Responsible to operate company assigned equipment, locate, install, repair and replace gas distribution facilities.
- Coordinates, oversees and guides the activities associated with natural gas construction.
- Operates line locator to locate and mark pipelines and curb boxes. Repairs curb boxes as needed and performs critical valve inspections.
- Must have a CDL within 24 months from the date of hire.

- Must be capable of passing applicable physical capacity tests.

- Duties include operating and maintenance of said equipment.

- Assists crew with installation and repair of mains and services.
- Class A CDL required.

- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate company vehicles.
- Must be capable of passing applicable physical capacity tests.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow through on assignments with limited direction.

- Responsible for submitting map revisions.
- Must be able to become OQ qualified in all duties relevant to the area of Line Locating.

- Must be capable of passing applicable physical capacity tests.

- All positions are subject to applicable DOT Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations.
- All positions must be able to respond to emergency calls and work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime at applicable overtime rate. To serve customers' needs, it may be necessary for incumbent to work a schedule or work location other than posted on a temporary basis to provide coverage during vacations.
- All positions will be required to complete applicable paperwork and enter data on a computer.
- All positions require working in all weather conditions.

Due to the nature of our business and our emergency response obligations, you must live within CPA-East Zone 4 from the York Operating Center or associated facility located at 1600 Colony Road, York, PA 17408 and maintain permanent residence in this living requirement while employed by Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania.
* Living Requirements of the Zone 4 do not apply to Greencastle and State College areas.
