      American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has an exciting opportunity for a talented team player on the Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA) team. We are looking for an experienced communications professional with proven skills in media relations, writing, editing and content creation, and effective project management.

      In the role of External Communications Manager, you will be part of the small, high-performing, agile GCPA team that provides expertise, guidance, content and support for all areas of the business around the world.

      Reporting into the Communications Director based in the UK, the right candidate will have proven skills in these areas of responsibility:

      • Consistently producing high-quality written content including press releases, media briefings and talking points, presentations and scripts, thought leadership white papers.
      • Helping manage Amex GBT’s external PR agencies in the US and Europe. Supporting fast-moving media requests.
      • Proactively building and nurturing media relationships, driving growth and success in Amex GBT’s mainstream media profile.
      • Management of multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to completion – anticipating challenges and ensuring deadline adherence and updates/communications to multiple stakeholders.
      • Working with GCPA colleagues to manage media monitoring platforms and tools to produce metrics and analytics that measure GCPA performance. Managing planning processes, strategies, reporting and results.
      • Working with senior leadership to prepare them for high-profile public engagements.

      What we are looking for:

      • At least five years’ experience in relevant fields such as corporate communications, public relations, journalism, editing, publishing.
      • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
      • Evidence of excellent writing, editing and research skills.
      • Superb attention to detail, producing work to the highest standards.
      • Project management experience.
      • A team player with excellent people skills, and who can perform to high standards under pressure.
      • Flexibility and willingness to support a global team across different time zones.
      • A knack for problem-solving and improving processes. An understanding of performance metrics and linking communications plans to objectives.
      • Experience in business travel and/or technology/software sectors is desirable but not essential.
