About This Opportunity
JOB TITLE: Communications Manager
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: ExemptPosition Overview
This position will manage a broad scope of external and internal communications responsibilities that include but are not limited to media relations, social media, website content, community philanthropy and event support to employee communications, newsletters and presentations.
Manage Media Relations:
· helping develop and execute annual media relations strategies
· building relationships with industry and key media reporters
· writing news releases
· preparing talking points to support interview and media responses
· monitoring and analyzing coverage
Manage Social Media:
· helping develop and execute annual social media strategy that is consistent with business objectives and brand
· monitoring posts and conversations
· creating basic visuals
Manage Community Philanthropy:
· supporting annual community relations philanthropy program
· managing donation request reviews
· identifying opportunities to extend the reach of the program
Website Content:
· developing and maintaining a newsroom and media library
· creating an editorial calendar and writing stories for the website to tell the Foremost Farms story
Events:
· providing support as needed to design presentations
· writing speeches
· developing plans and other elements
Employee Communications:
· researching and developing internal stories, newsletters and meeting presentations to promote Foremost Farms’ products, services, projects and accomplishments
· reviewing and shaping messages and presentations for other business units
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
· Minimum of five years of experience in relevant roles
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe suites, and basic design skills to support visual communications needs for social media and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in related field.
Physical Setting
· Ability to join us in our Middleton office on a weekly basis, typically for several days each week.
· Willingness to monitor social media and media inquiries on weekends and evenings and respond as appropriate to occasional, urgent- only situations.
· Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required. Occasional travel up to 10% of the time to research articles in Foremost Farms plants or on member-owner farms or other venues.
· Facilitate trusting relationships through effective communication, follow through on commitments, resolving conflicts and recognizing the good work of others.
· Develop innovative solutions by bringing and supporting new ideas and thinking.
