- Associate degree in HR or related field required. Experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for education.
- PHR or SPHR Certification strongly preferred.
- Three to five years experience in processing payroll. Experience in Colorado strongly preferred.
- Three to five years experience working in HRIS systems such as UKG, Ultipro, Paycom, etc. required.
- Additional HR experience strongly preferred.
- The position requires a blend of compliance, communication, and human resources abilities.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance, and industry best practices required.
- Strong knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems, including UKG, UltiPro, or similar systems required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Manage the organization’s payroll function and acts as a liaison for Human Resources and Accounting departments
- Responsible for management of employee data, ensuring team members are paid correctly and on time, employee verifications, income tax compliance, and all other payroll processes
- Accurately process and manage payroll for all team members, including calculating wages, overtime, paid time off, commissions, bonuses, garnishments, and deductions based on relevant data
- Ensure accurate payroll fund transfers and prepare payroll journal entries. Generate payroll reports for management, compliance, and accounting purposes
- Calculate and withhold payroll taxes, including federal and state income taxes, Social Security, and Medicare. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws
- Assist team members with payroll-related inquiries, including paycheck questions, direct deposit, income tax, and employment and income verifications.
- Maintain payroll records and historical data for auditing and compliance purposes
- Assist in creating and enforcing payroll policies, processes, and procedures
- Process payroll transactions including salary adjustments, bonuses and deductions, on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
- Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via the payroll system for both in-state and out-of-state team members. Address team member inquiries related to payroll and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of HRIS systems, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity.
- Generate and analyze HR/payroll reports to support decision-making processes. Provide support to other departments that use HR data in their systems and reporting.
- Provide training and support to end-users on HRIS functionality.
- Perform group data updates, exports, imports, clean-ups, and troubleshoot any data discrepancies.
- Configure system to meet business process requirements; plan for and support releases, upgrades and/or patches; provide basic technical and administration support to end users
- Collaborate with UKG, third party vendors and/or IT to troubleshoot and resolve HRIS issues.
- Oversee, implement, and manage the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, short term incentive pay, long term incentive pay and sales incentives, to attract and retain top talent.
- Assist on a variety of compensation projects, including resume review to determine level of candidate experience and data comparison to control wage compression.
- Calculate salary recommendations/quotes for new hires and current employees transitioning into new positions based on pertinent research and the consistent application of criteria. Conduct regular market analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive compensation structures. Collect and analyze compensation data for use throughout the organization and providing pay recommendations in alignment with salary structure and budget guidelines, as well as ensuring fair and consistent pay practices.
- Collaborate with leadership to update salary ranges and incentive programs.
- Administer annual compensation reviews and bonus programs.
- In collaboration with the Corporate Recruiter, this position will provide professional guidance, coordination, and support in the effective and consistent application of job architecture and compensation administration policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with compensation and pay laws and regulations and recognize when changes to processes are necessary. Stay up to date on changes in HR laws and regulations, and ensure that DDCO’s HRIS, payroll, and benefits processes comply.
- Stay informed about relevant compensation, payroll and employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Communicate changes in compensation, and payroll policies to team members.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
