  The Digital R&D (DRD) team is responsible for innovative computational solutions for chemical product and application development at Covestro. DRD integrates expertise in materials simulation and computational chemistry as well as competencies in laboratory automation, R&D data science, quantum computing and high-performance computing (HPC).

  With passion and pronounced technical skill, you will implement and apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods to model and predict the holistic behavior of complex, reactive fluids to increase speed, efficiency and creativity of Covestro’s R&D on products and processes together with customers.

  In addition to our diverse benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary of between €75,700/year and €91,600/year plus a variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.

  Your tasks in detail:

  • In your new position you will be part of an expert team developing and applying cutting-edge CFD simulations to describe and predict the holistic behavior of complex, reactive fluids such as polymeric liquids.

  • You will drive R&D activities and service projects with CFD simulations while constantly striving to maximize the potential of our in-house technology and its comprehensive application.

  • You will collaborate within an agile innovation network to address emerging challenges in material development and processing, as well as implement sustainable digital solutions for both existing business operations and strategic customers.

  • You will maintain close collaboration with CFD simulation experts, experimental researchers, and technical sales representatives to empower our global R&D community and selected customers, enhancing speed, efficiency, and creativity in the development of sustainable products and processes.

  What brings you to Covestro:

  • You hold an advanced university degree in engineering, natural sciences, simulation sciences, mathematics, or related fields.

  • You have gained first industrial experiences or completed a PhD study / Postdoc assignment (or equivalent in-depth experiences) in modelling and simulation of fluid dynamics processes.

  • You possess a strong knowledge of numerical techniques and computational methods for the simulation of complex materials and reactive flows.

  • You have acquired extensive experience in the application of modern CFD simulation tools, preferably including HPC environments, as well as data processing, data visualization, and basic coding skills.

  • You are passionate about discussing and explaining simulation results and underlying physics to non-simulation experts, including chemists and engineers, demonstrating your ability to communicate complex concepts efficiently in a fast-moving and service-oriented industrial environment.

  • You are fluent in English, with effective communication skills in both oral and written forms as essential components of your profile.
