      Job summary

      This is a 12 months fixed term contract CAMHS consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist post which has arisen due to a staff vacancy. It offers a unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic team of 5 Consultant Psychiatrists in Croydon CAMHS, within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

      The post holder will be based within the Croydon CAMHS Treatment Team, which focuses on the provision of specific evidence based interventions including CBT, family therapy, IPT and medical interventions such as antidepressants and stimulant medications. The post will also include providing sessions to ARC (ADHD Medication Review Clinic).

      The successful applicant will also join the SLaM consultant CAMHS on-call rota (see On-call Section of the Job Description).

      Main duties of the job

      This post includes 7.5 PAs of direct clinical activity with the Croydon CAMHS Treatment Team with 2.5 PAs of time.

      This post benefits from 2.5 PAs of structured professional activities, during which the post holder will contribute to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement, in addition to completing continuous professional development and pursuing other professional activities.

      The post holder will be based within the Croydon CAMHS Treatment Team, which focuses on the provision of specific evidence based interventions including CBT, family therapy, IPT and medical interventions such as antidepressants and stimulant medications. The post will also include providing sessions to ARC (ADHD Medication Review Clinic).

      The whole Croydon CAMHS service is based within the community clinic at Christopher Wren House, 113 High Street, Croydon. The Treatment Team is a multidisciplinary team which offers specialist outpatient mental health services to children and young people aged 0-18 years who are registered with a Croydon GP and have moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The team is an MDT which includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, family therapy and other disciplines.

      This post involves consulting to care coordinators, direct clinical contact for diagnostic clarification, risk assessment, medication suitability etc. and follow ups. Attending the MDT meetings to contribute and oversee care planning in line with evidence based practice.
