      The opportunity

      The Conventional Safety Compliance Manager plays a key role in supporting EDF Nuclear Operations in the implementation of Conventional Safety Management Systems.

      You’ll be required to engage with senior leaders, influence the business approach to conventional safety, coordinate a team of 8 Conventional Safety Compliance leads across stations, set strategy for Conventional Safety Compliance improvements, engage with the regulator on Conventional Safety Compliance, and drive the delivery of Conventional Safety Compliance interventions.

      You will be a key member of the EDF Nuclear Operations Industrial and Fire Safety Team, you will be providing Leadership, Governance, and Oversight for Conventional Safety Compliance across all technologies deployed by the business to ensure Legal compliance and the achievement of our Zero Harm ambition.

      This is a permanent role with a mix of home working and travel across the whole EDF fleet.

      Pay, benefits and culture

      We can offer a competitive salary from £71,101 - £98,004 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

      What you'll be doing

      In this role, your responsibilities will be:

      • Working closely and influencing all teams across EDF Nuclear Operations and the wider EDF Group business to monitor and direct Conventional Safety performance and to provide compliance assurance with Conventional Safety regulations, company policies and standards, and to promote the sharing of best practice.
      • Build good working relationships with Key Stakeholders in EDF Nuclear Operations allowing the business leads and managers to develop their own competence in Conventional Safety compliance requirements
      • Provide leadership and direction to the site based Conventional Safety Compliance leads, running the specialist peer group, and consolidating fleetwide performance reporting.
      • Support EDF Nuclear Operations to maintain a compliant Conventional Safety Management System and take a lead role in assuring EDF Nuclear Operations ISO 45001 status, including the coordination of assurance audits and provide reports to senior management on the Conventional Safety performance of the business.

      Who you are

      As a minimum you will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent), although a degree in a relevant subject or employment experience would also be beneficial. Prior experience within a safety standards setting environment will be advantageous.


      Experience within the nuclear environment is not essential, but specific experience of how functional conventional safety area operates within an industrial environment, including the interrelationships of processes and procedures within a highly regulated environment, is. Experience is also required in participation on peer group forums/ peer group management roles and you will be able to demonstrate technical competence & leadership.
