      About the Role

We’re looking for a creative, detail-driven writer to join our Editorial Team. As our Promo Copywriter II, you’ll help shape the Gap voice across high-visibility touchpoints—from site and email to store signage and social media. You’ll write promotional and loyalty-focused copy that’s clear, actionable, and on-brand—always crafted with the customer in mind.

This role sits at the intersection of creativity and commercial planning, partnering closely with designers, marketers, and brand teams to bring sale campaigns to life. You’ll juggle a variety of projects across multiple channels and timelines, often with overlapping deliverables. Success in this role requires not just writing talent, but a systems-oriented mindset—someone who thrives in complex workflows, adapts quickly, and keeps things moving forward with clarity and calm.

      What You'll Do

      • Write promotional copy for site, app, email, social, and in-store experiences

      • Take ownership of creative direction at the executional level, refining and adapting it independently across deliverables

      • Translate marketing objectives and customer insights into clear, action-driving language

      • Collaborate with design, merchandising, operations, and marketing partners to bring briefs to life across a range of customer touchpoints

      • Support seasonal strategy, our loyalty programs, and evolving brand initiatives and business needs

      • Balance multiple projects on staggered timelines with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

      • Ensure accuracy in product representation, pricing, and legal requirements

      • Proofread and self-edit all work for clarity, consistency, and tone

      Who You Are

      • 3+ years of experience in copywriting, preferably in retail

      • 1–2 years experience in promotional marketing, loyalty/rewards programs, or UX strongly preferred

      • Strong portfolio showcasing creative thinking and clean, customer-facing writing

      • A proven track record tailoring content across channels and platforms

      • Excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading skills

      • An understanding of brand voice nuances and ability to adapt tone for different use cases and audiences

      • An interest in fashion, pop culture, and evolving customer behaviors

      • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of partners

      • BA or equivalent experience preferred

      You’re a Great Fit If...

      • You write and edit fast without sacrificing clarity or craft

      • You’re the kind of creative who understands how to make a great idea support a strategy

      • You’re a self-starter who knows how to prioritize and organize your own workload

      • You naturally think in systems and processes—and you’re good at making sense of overlapping deadlines and deliverables across a complex workflow
