      Position Summary...

      About Federal Government Affairs: The Walmart FGA team, located in Washington, DC, plays a crucial role in aligning the company's corporate goals and business objectives with government policy. The team provides valuable input on strategic priorities for Government Affairs and serve as experts on legislative and political matters, ensuring that Walmart's interests are represented before Congress and the Administration. Additionally, we work towards maintaining and expanding the company's license to operate, creating opportunities for Walmart associates and customers worldwide, promoting shared value in the communities we serve, and
      safeguarding and improving Walmart's reputation.

      Walmart is seeking a paid, corporate intern, to provide research, logistical, project, and strategic support for our Federal Government Affairs team focused on legislation, public policy proposals, and local or national political developments relevant to the organization's mission. We are looking for one summer corporate intern, from June to August for a total of 9 weeks, 40 hours/week.

      What you'll do...

      • Attend Capitol Hill, agency, and think tank hearings and briefings.

      • Provide an overview of hearing/briefing outcomes.

      • Develop policy briefings, memos, and other communications.

      • Monitor and analyze the impact of new legislation, regulations, and policies on the organization.

      • Conduct research on pieces of legislation, public policy proposals, and local or national political developments relevant to the organization's mission.

      • Help organize and execute events or campaigns related to government affairs, such as lobbying days or activations.

      • Provide administrative support as needed, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing materials for presentations or meetings and fly - ins.

      • Collaborate with other departments within organization to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts.

      • Contributing to complex and time-sensitive deliverables and programs.

      What you'll bring...

      • Interest in political science, public policy, or international relations.

      • Comprehension of the legislative process.

      • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program at a recognized .College/University as a rising Junior or Senior, or a recent graduate or postgraduate student.

      • A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 Minimum Skills Required.

      • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication abilities, with aptitude for networking.

      • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in researching, analyzing and presenting clear and concise reports independently.

      • Proactive with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving, combined with excellent organizational abilities and multi-tasking skills.

      • Proficient in PC applications, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Google Docs.

      The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00-$46.00*

      *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

      Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
