- Manage the associates and facilities maintenance of the Omaha Training Facility.
- Responsible for hiring and training of Safety personnel for the Werner Welcome Experience, simulation training, backing/range training, etc. Requires knowledge of driver hiring requirements.
- Capable of handling Safety dispositions involving accidents, Company policy and/or D.O.T. regulation violations when called on to do so. Safety Managers will need to be sure that all appropriate notifications, paperwork, and documentation are complete and instruct others in this.
- Ability to assist in the creation, development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Ability to be on call for potential time sensitive scenarios that require management level decision-making.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.
- Knowledge of Federal regulations and Company requirements, policies, and procedures for safety staff and driver.
- Knowledge of federal and state traffic laws and requirements for tractor/trailer equipment.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to acclimate and orient drivers to their new position at Werner Enterprises.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
- Some travel maybe necessary, but would be minimal.
- Minimum of 5 years transportation safety compliance and management experience.
- Minimum of high school diploma.
- At least two years of college preferred.
The main purpose of this job is to manage, supervise, and develop the day-to-day processes carried out by terminal and dedicated safety representatives. Job may include management of up to 10 associates that carry out various responsibilities in the safety department.
