Own Cocoa Life country program strategy

- Consult Cocoa Life teams and stakeholders on the Ghana Cocoa Life program strategy and program development, including alignment with Cocoa Life's global strategy, plans and budget. Ensure Cocoa Life is aligned where appropriate to other cocoa initiatives in Ghana, and relevant government or international policy frameworks.
- Document and present the Ghana Cocoa Life program strategy and contribute to similar process other countries and at the central level.
- Develop and manage a process to identify, select and review implementing partners.
- Support evolving Mondelez International commercial objectives and link to program, and other cocoa sourcing activities as appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate organizational and operational structure based on objectives and responsibilities, including recruitment of local staff when needed.
- Provide leadership for the entire team in all matters required, including overseeing the creation of work plans, regular reporting and objective-based management, and undertaking appropriate reviews and support professional development of staff.
- Coordinate the preparation, control and execution of the Cocoa Life country budget.
- Co-create and oversee good functioning of administrative systems and processes, and strict compliance with MDLZ policies.
- Oversee the managers responsible for financial and administrative functions to provide overall fiscal and administrative stewardship of Cocoa Life in Ghana, to manage finances, including establishing appropriate financial systems and reviewing on a regular basis.
- Make financial and legal contractual arrangements with implementing partners, in collaboration with respective Procurement, Legal and central functions, to implement the operational plan.
- Own the Standard Operational Guidelines for Ghana, which defines relationship and coordination with partners.
- Oversee the management team to develop action plans and budgets to implement the Ghana Program strategy, the implementation of these plans, and resolve arising issues. Approve partners' operational plans and budgets.
- Redesign and promote continuous improvement processes for quality assurance of Cocoa Life project implementation
- Facilitate collaboration between partners in Ghana, both institutionally and between individual professionals, towards higher effectiveness, efficiency and transparency. Adopt clear communication framework with partners for obtaining and sharing views, building consensus, mediating on areas of disagreement, providing feedback to maintain healthy, productive relationships and help troubleshoot where required.
- Oversee the preparation of overall activity, impact, financial and other reports to deliver at international and Ghana level.
- Supervise the M&E Manager to establish systems, and coordinate monitoring of program activities according to a governance framework.
- Participate in the development and effective conduct of evaluation activities.
- Plan and agree learning process and systems with the central communications team, and oversee its implementation learning, including facilitating agreed forums and reviews.
- Cocoa Life works cross-sectorial cross-sectionally with various Mondelēz International, government institutions and various not-for-profit and development organizations. Therefore, key relationships to be built, maintained and sustained under the stewardship of the Country Lead.
- Supervise the development and implementation of an external communications strategy in Ghana and contribute to international communication strategy.
- Represent Cocoa Life to external stakeholders in Ghana, including World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) and International Cocoa Initiative (ICI).
- Support MDLZ cocoa and CL teams with the analysis and assessment of cocoa sector, relevant policy and institutions in Ghana.
- Alongside partners, represent and ensure integration of Cocoa Life in policy discussions and other relevant national/regional forums, including liaising with COCOBOD and other relevant government offices.
- MDLZ commitments to sustainability, such as sourcing 100% CL for chocolate by 2025, 100% coverage CLRMS by 2025, net zero 2050 target and the 2030 vision.
- Relevant sustainability policies such as human rights policy, policy to help protect children, supplier of conduct
- All relevant MDLZ policies on compliant business conduct
- Our will to nurturing the trust and confidence of the communities in which we work
- The foundations of the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership in Ghana and the ensuing Cocoa Life Program since 2012
- Master's degree in Development Studies or related field
- A minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in sustainability
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders to build alignment and operationalize strategies, calling for senior advocacy and communications skills
- Experience of organizational development (within NGO or private sector is an advantage)
- Experience of managing sizeable budgets
- Experience of managing a team with diverse skills and experiences
- Experience of working in an international context and managing multiple realities
- Skills in program conceptualization and policy analysis
- Ability to work effectively under intense pressure
- Be accountable to multiple internal and external stakeholders
