Job summary
We are looking for a CT experienced HCPC registered Radiographer to help lead the day to day running of the CT team at Community Diagnostic Centre based at Mile End Hospital.
This post gives you the opportunity to build on your clinical expertise in CT and to be involved in the set up and running of the CT at our new centre. Encouragement will be given to staff who wish to pursue post graduate studies in CT.
The site currently has a GE Revolution EVO scanner (static) and a Siemens Somaton go.Top (mobile). There are also development works for a 3rd scanner for 2025 as part of the CDC.
We will be providing a service to a wide range of cancer, urgent, rheumatology and routine outpatients in the East and North-East of London.
It is essential to have good organisational skills, good working relationships and be motivated and able to demonstrate how you can motivate others within the team. Training of radiographers in CT will be essential, supervision of Imaging Assistants, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists and ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures.
The service at the CDC is delivered across 12-hour days, 7 days a week therefore the working pattern for this post will reflect the needs of this service.
Main duties of the job
To lead the technical /radiographic staff, and to develop an efficient CT service for the Community Diagnostic Centre / Early Diagnosis Centre at Mile End Hospital.
To develop and maintain the CT service, standardising protocols, managing the patient bookings and waiting lists, and managing the rotation of radiographers and imaging assistants throughout the CT department.
To organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of CT scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments alongside the other CT Band 7 team.
To provide an effective operational lead radiographer role for the CT service for the Community Diagnostic Centre / Early Diagnosis Centre at Mile End Hospital.
In conjunction with the CT Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the CT service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.
The post-holder will manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. The post-holder will ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management, achieve the required results.
