Job Description

- Sweeps and mops daily.
- Strips and waxes, buffs floors quarterly or as needed for the campus.
- Vacuums and cleans carpets for the campus
- Dusts and cleans furniture in Administration Bldg. and Fire Prevention Bldg.
- Washes walls, windows, furnishings and fixtures.
- Cleans rest rooms twice daily -- maintaining supplies.
- Collects and disposes of trash daily.
- Keeps inventory of cleaning supplies and reports low supplies to supervisor.
- Shelves supplies and transport materials.
- Mixes insect sprays under direction of supervisor and sprays for insects, as required.
- Assists in general maintenance work (i.e., changing light bulbs, fixtures, etc.).
- Maintains yards, which includes: Cuts Grass/Edging/Pruning of Trees & Bushes weekly or bi-weekly.
- Knowledge of the methods, practices and materials used in cleaning operations.
- Ability to carry out assignments according to established schedules and practices.
- Basic knowledge of environmental services, maintenance (yard maintenance and equipment) and floor maintenance equipment which includes waxing and buffing.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public.
- Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
Under general supervision, performs un-skilled to semi-skilled manual work in the care and maintenance of municipal buildings.
