- Customs Compliance Management:
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international customs regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of import and export documentation for customs clearance.
- Advise on appropriate customs classifications, valuations, and duty rates.
- Monitor and manage global compliance processes to ensure timely and cost-effective imports and exports.
- Support Free Trade Agreement (FTA) management.
- Regulatory Knowledge & Risk Management:
- Stay up to date on global customs regulations, laws, and best practices.
- Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, customs brokers, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve global trade and customs compliance processes.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure that trade compliance is integrated into business processes.
- Customs Audit & Reporting:
- Manage audits and provide necessary documentation to regulatory authorities.
- Prepare and present regular reports on customs compliance performance to manager.
- Handle customs-related inquiries and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Training & Support:
- Provide training to internal teams on customs compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on global customs compliance issues.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with supply chain, logistics, legal, and finance teams to ensure global trade processes run smoothly.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in global customs compliance, or international trade.
- Strong knowledge of global customs regulations and customs compliance requirements.
- Experience working with customs brokers and regulatory authorities.
- Able to obtain your Controlled Goods Certification, as well as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) Clearance.

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Customs Specialist plays an important role in managing the import and export compliance activities. This position will oversee the customs clearance process for international shipments, ensure adherence to applicable customs regulations, and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and minimize risks associated with global trade. The ideal candidate will have experience in global customs procedures, regulations, and compliance management.
