What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct comprehensive quality control reviews of various loan files, including conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, and Down Payment Assistance.
- Re-underwrite files for pre-closing and post-closing audits, ensuring guideline adherence and validating underwriting decisions.
- Review income calculations, asset verification, credit risk assessment, and overall loan eligibility.
- Prepare clear, actionable QC reports summarizing findings, defects, root causes, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Production, and Compliance teams to clarify documentation and resolve audit findings.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a mortgage underwriter (conventional, FHA, VA, USDA) or 10+ years as a mortgage quality control review analyst.
- Ability to interpret all major mortgage documentation, including disclosures and underwriting notes.
- Strong analytical and audit skills for reviewing large volumes of data and summarizing findings.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets, AirTable, Adobe Acrobat, and Encompass.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- DE (Direct Endorsement) Certification.
- Experience underwriting Jumbo and Down Payment Assistance (DPA) programs.
- Familiarity with vendor documentation reviews and manual QC processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
