What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL database environments for high availability and performance
- Design and maintain database architecture, including schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures
- Monitor systems for availability and oversee database replication, mirroring, and disaster recovery processes
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams to design and implement database solutions
- Provide recommendations on database policies, procedures, and emerging technologies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in database administration supporting enterprise or cloud-based environments
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and optimization
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure, including database deployment and management
- Excellent communication, documentation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal government systems
- Familiarity with SAFe or Agile development environments
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure data management
- Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, or MongoDB are a plus
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government background clearance
