- Serves as Child Welfare Trainee.
- Develops working skills to advance in completing projects of increased complexity involving academic knowledge coupled with on-the-job training.
- Attends meetings to broaden knowledge of agency operations.
- Assists supervisor with projects acquired to further agency operations and/or agenda and begins to participate in assigned area of responsibility.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably with major coursework in public administration, business administration, social work, psychology, counseling, education or special education, or a related field.
- Requires experience with the application of public administration tenets such as might have been obtained in collegiate organizations, volunteer participation, or employment.
- Requires a valid driver’s license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Requires ability to pass a background check.
- Requires physical, visual and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties.

Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Child Welfare Trainee. Under general supervision, this position will participate in a trainee program for 6 to 12 months, to a maximum of 24 months to obtain additional training and experience. The position will provide on the job training in agency field services and administrative services to enable the selected candidate to develop working skills in the field of child welfare. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in playing a role in ensuring that children and youth remain safe.
