      Major Responsibilities:

      • Consults with patients, reviews medical histories and gets informed consent for treatment for denture services
      • Takes impressions for denture fabrication
      • Consults with contracted lab on denture fabrication and design
      • Inserts denture(s) and adjusts denture(s) as needed on clients
      • Follows all TPH and DOHS policy and procedures
      • Educates the clients on post-denture care and oral hygiene
      • Troubleshoots if client is having issues adapting to the denture
      • Maintains knowledge of all dental programs both City funded (pediatric, perinatal and adult high school), and Provincially funded (OSDCP OW, ODSP, HSO)
      • Monitors and performs universal precautions for infection control procedures as per IPAC guidelines
      • Educates the public on oral health the Toronto Public Health dental programs, policies, and procedures
      • Refers clients as necessary to specialists at low cost dental facilities such as the University of Toronto
      • Receives referrals from TPH dental clinics and CHC's for denture fabrication
      • Resolves conflicts with clients, staff and members of the public if necessary
      • Provides input into the development of program policies, and ensures implementation of policies and procedures in the dental clinic
      • May provide services on patients with disabilities and behavior issues
      • Documents treatment provided in dental software system

      Key Qualifications:
      Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

      1. Graduate of a recognized Canadian Denturism Program and Registered and in good standing with The College of Denturists of Ontario.
      2. Considerable experience in the fabrication and insertion of dentures.


      You must also have:

      • Knowledge of Public Health programs is considered an asset.
      • Ability to speak a second language is desirable (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Korean, Spanish, Russian are assets).
      • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License is an asset.
      • Familiarity with government legislation in the area of Occupational Health and Safety is an asset.
      • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
      • Flexible to work in any of the Toronto Public Health Dental Clinics across the City of Toronto.
