What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Coordinate the Michigan Department of Transportation's multifaceted Safety Program, ensuring statewide uniformity
- Develop and implement safety and accident prevention programs to reduce occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses
- Conduct hazard identification, accident investigations, and safety training
- Interpret and implement OSHA and MIOSHA standards to maintain compliance
- Develop and conduct MDOT's Occupational Safety Training Program statewide
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major
- Minimum of four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in safety responsibilities, including OSHA and MIOSHA standards
- Ability to provide official college transcripts or foreign degree evaluation if applicable
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in training others in safety protocols
- Familiarity with state safety regulations and standards
- Background in accident investigation and safety program development
- Experience working in a government or public service environment
