- Five to eight years of senior level management experience.
- The position requires the ability to plan for emergencies including continuity of operations, the ability to lead in a crisis; and the ability to solve problems before they impact operations.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships within the SAA, and with Senate staff and other stakeholders.
- Senior level experience leading a front facing organization in a high-profile, high-volume environment.
- Senior level experience leading and managing a large, diverse team and building a positive team culture.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the U.S. Senate gained through previous employment as a senior staff member is desired.

The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Deputy Assistant Sergeant at Arms - Capitol Operations. Provides leadership, direction, and development to a staff who work in support of the U.S. Senate in the U.S. Capitol. Ensures that the Senate is supported by a high-quality, highly motivated, professional workforce. Ensures cross training of staff, and succession planning for all managers and their staff. Participates in short and long-range planning efforts and supports special events such as Inaugurations and state funerals. Develops and supports plans for emergencies, and continuity of operations responsibilities for the divisions under their direction. The ability to lead during a crisis is a job requirement. Assists with the development of budgets, priorities, policies, and procedures, and manages the impact to stakeholders ensuring that customer service and customer satisfaction are prioritized. Other duties as assigned.
