The United States Space Force (USSF) Headquarters Space Force Command (HQSF) at the Pentagon is searching for a Deputy Branch Chief, Chief Operations Officer/S35 Strategy and Plans (NH-0343-04).
Description:
Along with the Branch Chief, the Deputy manages and oversees day to day activities of the Strategy and Plans branch. The Deputy Branch Chief provided leadership and expertise on all facets of strategy, plans, and future operations integration in support of the USSF's Chief Operations Officer (COO). Develops policies, procedures, plans, strategies, goals and objectives that integrate field commands, USSF, and CCMD objectives and enables effective presentation of Service capabilities to Combatant Commanders. Provides space mission area advice and expertise to HQ USSF, Field Commands, Combatant Commands, and Space Force Service Components. Provides future operations integration advice and expertise to key stakeholders on highly sensitive and critical Space activities.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional depth and breadth of multiple space mission areas and experience at a Combatant Command and/or Service-level Headquarters providing leadership and expertise on all facets of strategy, plans, and future operations integration. Academic education at the Bachelor's degree level, with a Master's degree preferred; however, applicable work experience may be used in lieu of an academic degree. Senior Developmental Education (SDE) graduate is a bonus.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the Department of Defense processes and Department of Air Force policy, procedures, and schedules for developing plans in support of major Space Force missions and operations plans.
2. Knowledge of Space Force program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events.
3. Knowledge of the Space Force Strategic Basing process, such as the Basing Request Review Panel (BRRP), the Strategic Basing Executive Steering Group, and the Space Force Corporate Structure.
4. Knowledge of the relationship of the various Space Force entities involved in overall planning and execution of military operations and evaluations, and the way PPBE processes support them.
5. Knowledge of Space Force installations to include the interaction of Total Force partners (to include Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve).
6. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, conduct analysis, devise recommended solutions, and package the entire process in briefings, papers, or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintains good working relations.
