      JAKKS Pacific, Inc., a leading designer and marketer of toys and consumer products, with a wide range of products that feature some of the most popular brands and children's toy licenses in the world, currently seeks an experienced, energetic, self-starter for the role of Designer on the Girls and Preschool team, for our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. This position will report to the Senior Director of Design and support toy development across various collections, from design concept all the way to production.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Understand product design and design language
      • Can create clear product line presentations for internal and outside review through sketches, Illustrator & Photoshop, and mock-ups
      • Can communicate clearly with HK engineers, outside vendors, and licensors
      • Provide art direction/overlays to outsourced talent and HK engineers as needed
      • Strong soft lines skills; able to create detailed spec sheets and repeat patterns for print production
      • Work unsupervised and anticipate team/project needs
      • Ownership of projects with ability to guide teams from concept to finished product
      • Support design and packaging teams in setting up showroom displays, archiving, and shipping product
      • Brainstorming, trend hunting and research for new ideas


      Skills & Experience required:

      • Degree in Toy Design, Illustration or Industrial Design
      • Practical product design experience in toy industry. Prefer girl’s toys experience, 4+ years practical experience
      • Understands direction, accepts feedback, and is proactive
      • Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills required
      • Ability to communicate verbally and visually
      • Self-starting, self-motivating, and self-managing
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Works well as part of a team
      • Works well under stress, can juggle multiple, varied projects and meet tight deadlines
      • Comfortable presenting product lines and speaking in groups
      • Takes pride in their work and has a strong work ethic

      • Compensation: JAKKS Pacific offers a competitive salary. Compensation for this role commensurate with experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $67,000-$77,000.
