      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Diabetes Dietitian to join SFH young adult diabetes service.

      There is opportunity for Hybrid working, offering virtual appointments to accommodate flexibility for our service users, providing dietetic input in MDT young adult clinics and transitional clinics across both Kings Mill Hospital and Newark hospital and additional young adult dietetic clinics held at kings mill hospital and potential to develop this service over at Newark hospital.

      There is the opportunity to develop and facilitate tailored structured education course for the young adult cohort with dietetic emphasis on carbohydrate counting and nutritional education to empower service users with their diabetes management. Knowledge of insulin pump therapy is desired but not essential as training will be provided. There will be opportunity to develop the role further to support within the insulin pump therapy pathway. You would be working alongside a passionate and knowledgeable Diabetes specialist nurse, Psychologist and diabetes consultant within the young adult MDT. You will also be a member of the trust's Diabetes dietitians and wider dietitian team.

      We are willing to consider a band 6 who would be interested in the challenge, however you will need previous knowledge and experience of diabetes and the NHS.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Qualified Dietitian (4 year degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent).
      • Evidence of continuing professional development.
      • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

      Desirable

      • Leadership/management training.
      • Member of relevant BDA specialist group
      • Relevant post-graduate course or equivalent

      Skills

      • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training.
      • Able to work as lead member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff
      • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information.

      • Experience in training and supervision of student dietitians
      • Experience of managing/supervising others

      • Additional depth of theoretical knowledge to masters level or equivalent.
