Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and dynamic, Midwife, with an interest in diabetes and a passion for delivering high quality, evidence based care for women/ birthing people with diabetes.
The successful applicant will work with the multi-disciplinary team providing and coordinating the care of patients with pre-existing and gestational diabetes within the Trust.

The post holder will work as a specialist diabetes Midwife to provide high quality, effective, holistic, collaborative, patient centred, evidence based care.
As a specialist Midwife, you will be a point of contact for diabetic service users and will be responsible for support and to advise on diabetic control and Midwifery care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. You will liaise with the diabetic specialist Nurses, Obstetric and Endocrinology Consultants, and Dieticians specialising in the provision of individualised care.
You will be involved in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines for pregnant women with diabetes and will work towards developing a structured approach in the provision of diabetes care to ensure a comprehensive, high quality diabetes service within maternity which aligns with the requirements for SBLv3.
The appointed Midwife will be expected to undertake clinical audit and provide educational support and training for healthcare professionals and students alike.
This post will require cross site working at Worcester, The Alexandra and Kidderminster hospitals. Antenatal clinics also run at Evesham Hospital and the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove and successful applicants should also be willing to travel to these sites if required.

The successful applicant will work with service users (including the MVP), the multi-disciplinary team and local stakeholders to advance and protect health and wellbeing of those in our care, and improve health outcomes of the poorest families (Department of Health 2013). The successful applicant will develop and implement processes to evaluate and improve patient experience. The post holder will possess the necessary skills and experience to liaise with both our inpatient services and affiliated external partners to coordinate, standardise and streamline our service provision across the county.
