      Overview

      Opportunity: Director of Corporate and Investment Accounting

      Manage and guide accounting processes for corporate and for properties within the portfolio, with the main objective of preparing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and established standards. Prepare and review timely and accurate financial statements, budgets and forecasts.

      Essential Job Functions

      • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for corporate and joint venture entities, including analytical reviews, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
      • Oversee corporate accounting functions including accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals and accounting for the self-insured benefits and workers’ compensation programs.
      • Oversee the accounting and reporting associated with joint ventures and related consolidations. Knowledge of equity accounting is essential.
      • Monthly review of joint venture financial statements for owner and lender reporting. Coordinate reviews with Asset Management and property accounting teams.
      • Ensure compliance of the joint venture structures and transactions with relevant tax requirements for REIT’s (Real Estate Investment Trust).
      • Ensure proper purchase accounting for new joint ventures, as required.
      • Oversee payroll accounting functions, ensuring proper postings to corporate departments and properties. Coordinate with the payroll director to ensure proper coding, accruals, and posting of compensation, benefits, and taxes.
      • Prepare corporate forecasts and budgets, working with individual department leaders.
      • Assist in preparation and review of cash flow modeling
      • Support preparation and review of corporate five year forecasts
      • Assist with hotel transitions in and out of the portfolio, ensuring all accounting workstreams are updated.
      • Assist with both internal and external audits to ensure complete, timely and accurate responses to information requests.
      • Work closely with Regional Directors of Accounting, Controllers and the Senior Vice President of Finance to ensure effective coordination of activities between Accounting and Operations.
      • Ensure compliance and satisfaction of all government, company, franchise and ownership requirements throughout job performance.
      • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values.
      • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

      Position Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
      • Seven to ten years of experience in accounting, including supervisory experience
      • Previous cash flow forecasting experience required.

      Work Environment and Context

      • Requires sitting for extended periods, use of hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
