Job Description

- Support the origination of new investment opportunities by conducting research, contributing to identifying attractive targets, and building sector knowledge;
- Perform analysis on targets using publicly available and proprietary information;
- Construct financial models and perform market-based valuations;
- Support building the 'business case' and identifying connections between internal assets and external opportunities;
- Engage cross-functionally with other internal business functions (e.g., Pro Eval, Exploration, BSG, Operations, Finance/Tax, Environmental);
- Assume a hands-on leadership role in coordinating presentations to summarize evaluation, diligence, and valuation activities to support decision-making;
- Support the coordination of external advisors to ensure proper planning, coordination, and completion of transactions;
- Contribute to the investment recommendation and approval process;
- Support the maintenance of a comparative database of projects, including a ranking matrix of internal and external projects;
- Maintain transaction data rooms and Corporate Development planning and monitoring infrastructure;
- Support the execution of trading within our strategic investment portfolio;
- Support the preparation of non-core holdings for divestment;
- Manage the divestment process of assets once a decision is made by stakeholders;
- Support opportunities to optimize closure through M&A and divestment;
- Handle ad-hoc corporate development projects and support the executive team and other internal groups.
- University degree in commerce or engineering;
- MBA, CFA or CA preferred;
- 7-10 years of direct experience in mining, investment banking, and/or corporate development;
- Successful track record in evaluating business and/or major capital initiatives;
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations on strategic activities;
- Experience working with a range of internal stakeholders and supporting strategic decision-making;
- Skilled communicator with strong presentation skills to support executive decision-making;
- Highly motivated team player;
- Be skilled in the use of third-party databases and tools (CAPIQ, Bloomberg, SNL);
- Solid financial and analytical skills;
- Self-starter with a track record of initiative;
- Ability to work successfully autonomously;
- Demonstrate a strong ability and track record of working in Excel and database environments;
- Highly collaborative in a team setting and effective in working with internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines, demonstrating composure and sound judgment;
- Strong business acumen; business exposure through work or education;
- Ability to act as a "Brand Ambassador" for Agnico Eagle;
- Exposure to various technical matters: mining, metallurgy, or geology;
- Willingness to travel.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from our Corporate Office in Toronto, ON. Occasional visits to site and conference may also be required.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development, you will be part of the Corporate Development Department. You will have a multi-disciplined role in Corporate Development. You will be primarily involved in the identification, evaluation, coordination and execution of opportunities related to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, new investments, property transactions and divestitures. You will coordinate due diligence activities, track opportunities and prepare presentations to drive decision-making. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
