      JOB SUMMARY

      The Director of Finance is responsible for providing ethical and consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotel by supplying management with guidance, training, and support. The Director of Finance focuses on the profitability of the business, maintains accurate and timely financial reporting, ensures internal controls are effective, complies with all regulations, and safeguards owners/investors' assets.

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      Financial:

      1. Acts as the “Chief Business Officer” to the general manager and EC Team, evaluating the financial impact of business decisions.
      2. Ensures management is promptly informed of financial deviations and control weaknesses.
      3. Manages and communicates cash flow issues, prepares cash-flow statements, manages receivables, cash balances, controls, and deposits.
      4. Monitors hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording, analyzing variances, and suggesting improvements.
      5. Assists with capital planning, including ROI calculations, bid process support, and scope evaluation.
      6. Ensures compliance with licenses, permits, leases, contracts, and taxes, assisting management in enforcement.
      7. Coordinates forecasts and budgets with active participation from the EC Team and managers.
      8. Analyzes financial data to advise management on maintaining financial objectives.
      9. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and bank statements timely.
      10. Audits internal controls regularly, covering purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, assets, payroll, and records.
      11. Hires, trains, and develops finance staff, fostering growth and promotability.
      12. Focuses on training programs to cultivate top talent within the industry.
      13. Supervises staff, providing coaching, counseling, and discipline as needed.
      14. Ensures compliance with company standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
      15. Maintains IT systems and equipment, ensuring proper utilization and upgrades.
      16. Prepares financial reports according to IHR requirements, meeting deadlines:
      • Daily: Revenue report, cash deposits, credit card transmissions, labor variance review.
      • Weekly: Checkbook reviews, G/L reports, financial updates, cash sufficiency.
      • Monthly: Balance sheet reconciliation, bank counts, key controls review, forecasting accuracy, credit meetings.
      • Annual: Internal control questionnaires, payroll audits, budget reviews, analysis for ownership and auditors.

      Participates in meetings to maintain positive relationships, maximize productivity, and ensure compliance with report deadlines. Approaches all interactions courteously and professionally, maintaining high standards of appearance and grooming.

      Management:

      • Participates in M.O.D. coverage and attends required meetings/training.
      • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

      QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

      Education & Experience:

      • Minimum 8 years in hotel accounting or related field, or a 4-year degree with an accounting/finance focus plus 4 years of experience, or a 2-year degree with 6 years of experience.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Long hours may be required.
      • Sedentary work involving exertion up to 25 pounds occasionally.

      Mental Requirements:

      • Ability to communicate clearly, evaluate options quickly, work under pressure, maintain composure, solve problems proactively, and handle complex information effectively.

      Must be able to understand financial data, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently under deadlines.
