      About the Position
      The Director - Financial Operations is responsible for directing the annual financial planning and budgeting processes for the Technology Development & Industry Engagement department. Develops policies and procedures in accordance with St. Jude's institutional regulatory requirements. The Director is responsible for overseeing the third party reimbursement function and revenue enhancement.

      This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Lead development and integration of the strategic and financial plan for the department .
      • Direct financial planning, analysis, and budgeting function, providing functional/department management with financial projections and multi-year forecasts
      • Drive ongoing review of financial feasibility for services and programs.
      • Establish and maintain strong and consistent business partnerships with key stakeholders within relevant/applicable areas of the organization including senior leadership.
      • Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency of functional financial planning processes and make recommendations/ drive implementation.
      • Contribute to the development of annual operational goals for FP&A and internal/ external reporting.
      • Remain current with latest developments in the field (e.g., latest updates to federal and state laws) and evaluate and advise on the impact of new related strategies, programs, and/or regulatory actions , as relevant .
      • Evaluate the performance of all direct reports, providing constructive criticism, feedback and opportunities for professional development.
      • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
      • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

      Minimum Education and/or Training:

      • Bachelor's degree in A ccounting, F inance, B usiness/ H ealth A dministration, or related field of study required.

      Minimum Experience:

      • Minimum Requirement: 10+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis.
      • Significant experience working with major financial processes (e.g. strategic planning and infrastructure support, finance and budgeting, personnel management, grant and fund accounting and clinical compliance) preferred.
      • Experience in an academic / government setting or with research activities preferred.
      • Demonstrated experience in senior-level research administration , or equivalent, including experience in clinical research administration.
      • Demonstrated experience with clinical research database management systems, project management and revenue cycle preferred.
      • Experience leading and managing FP&A processes, including managing teams in a supervisory/ leadership & internal/external collaboration
      • Direct working k nowledge of financial forecasts & financial modeling and third - party reimbursement rules & regulations.
      • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role , with history of advancement .

      Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

      • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

      • Demonstrates expertise in analyzing financial statements and communicating insights.
      • Builds financial models using historical data; provides forecasts based on various industry-related operating metrics.
      • Provides value-added insights about business, resource allocation and transactional processing, policies and internal controls.
      • Guides team through regulatory, business, technology and organizational changes.
      • Drives and monitors clear goal setting, accountability, and feedback for the department (and matrixed teams).
      • Guides performance of direct reports (or indirect if managing people indirectly) through positive constructive coaching and development.
      • Consistently evaluates and addresses the functional team’s overarching development needs in - line with the talent strategy.
      • Demonstrates ability to interpret relevant regulatory requirements/ guidelines for own area and guide teams around adherence and implementation of standard working processes.
      • Provides compliance subject matter expertise to meet regulatory and internal requirements.
      • Stays abreast of changes in financial regulatory and compliance guidelines, oversees adherence to regulatory requirements by teams and addresses any deviations.
      • Demonstrates strong grasp of financial systems, tools and processes and how they interact with other systems.
      • Builds processes and systems that increase efficiency, capabilities to monitor and analyze accounting and financial management.
      • Liaises with other disciplines to understand requirements; designs, modifies and develops systems to meet changing needs.

      Compensation

      In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $151,840 - $287,040 per year for the role of Director - Financial Operations.
