      Department Overview

      The Global Commercial team manages commercial matters for the top multi-market clients within the agency, to help build contractually sound and profitable long-term client relationships. The team works with global account management teams to build strong relationships with global and local clients, with agency finance and commercial leadership around the globe, with legal counsel, and with other GroupM agencies as well as WPP.

      Objectives of the Role:

      The Director oversees all commercial matters for a portfolio of global clients, including the handling of escalations and sensitive topics that influence the business. The Director also manages a small team, which handles much of the day-to-day on global commercial client topics.

      Business Responsibilities:

      • Provides commercial leadership and support to Client Leaders on several international client assignments, such as answering contract related questions and guiding client remuneration discussions.
      • Acts as a key agency contact for Client Procurement; proactively builds and strengthens client relationships.
      • Acts as the lead negotiator for client service agreements, covering terms of business across the globe and promoting favorable terms that result in profitable accounts.
      • Coordinates remuneration proposals for new scopes of existing clients and/or prospective global clients in pitch.
      • Tracks global client contracts and helps to improve local markets’ understanding and compliance of key contract terms.
      • Monitors client fees and profitability in multiple markets and has line of sight into problem areas at both the local and global level.
      • Aids in global client bonus and malus calculations and distributions to markets.
      • Oversees market data analyses and reporting based on contractual or internal requirements, such as media rebates and incentives, timesheets and fee reconciliations, unbilled media, etc.
      • Works alongside legal and compliance teams to address compliance/legal disputes.

      Skills and Behaviors:

      • Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to establish successful relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
      • Thorough understanding of data analysis in Microsoft Excel and corporate financial concepts, including profitability, direct and indirect agency costs, and cash flow.
      • Experience working with international markets and multiple currencies.
      • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
      • Natural leader and mentor to junior team members; is approachable and can foster strong relationships within the team.
      • Ability to manage several ongoing workstreams and to delegate to junior team members and oversee their work.
      • Promote the success of every team member.

      The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $100,000 to $230,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
