      Description

      BASIC REQUIREMENTS

      Must be a Christian and a member of a church that holds to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in the New and Old Testaments of the Holy Bible.

      GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

      The Director of Career Services will direct all the functions and activities of the Career Services department and is responsible for performing administrative and supervisory work to plan, organize, direct activities in the career center. This includes establishing and implementing short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement; develop and manage annual budgets for the organization; design, establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objective. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelor's degree in human resources, sociology or psychology or a related field. Master's desired.
      • Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
      • Ability to supervise, make decisions, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
      • Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.

      SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Responsible for creating and maintaining job development and public relations with off-campus visits to potential employers
      2. Maintain active involvement in professional organizations to enhance personal and professional skills and knowledge, and to enhance DBU's image
      3. Conduct individual counseling sessions
      4. Coordinate part-time employment on campus
      5. Responsible for job fairs on campus
      6. Assist students after graduation in their transition from student to highly productive employees, in resume distribution, job opportunities and current trends
      7. Plan and supervise the work of other Career Service personnel
      8. Participate in various Student Affairs planned events
      9. Conduct career counseling session with students, alumni and student spouses, and assis them in their career field
      10. Track students through an electronic Career Bridge system
      11. Assist with resumes, effective interviewing techniques and job strategies
      12. Maintain up-to-date records on current job opportunities
      13. Organize and coordinate Dress for Success Fashion Show
      14. Make scheduled visits to class rooms to inform students about Career Services
      15. Plan, schedule and implement on-campus job fairs
      16. Send emails to students of job opportunities
      17. Solicit employers through contact by telephone, correspondence and personal visits to advise job seekers about vacancies and career positions
      18. Communicate with professors to seek their help for students
      19. Increase student awareness of the availability of campus career assessment testing and counseling
      20. Increase student awareness of the services that Career Services provides
      21. Serve as a host for all Chapel services
      22. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for the Center for Career and Professional Development
      23. Serve in other areas of Student Affairs within the University such as attending all Commencement services, Candlelighting, SWAT, New Patriot Orientation, and other RecLife and Student Life activities as needed

      WORK SCHEDULE:

      This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. There will be occasional work requirements outside of normal business hours for retreats, mission trips, and ministry events.

      WORK LOCATION:

      This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
