Juris Doctor degree
Six years of law practice experience including experience as a judicial law clerk
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
State bar license
Law practice experience in a large law firm and higher education, including supervisory experience
Knowledge of the application process for judicial clerkships and large law firms
Active membership in federal, state and local bar associations
Oversees the coordination and implementation of the clerkship program and large law firm placement, ensuring placement of graduates into clerkships and coordinating interns as judicial clerks.
Creates, develops, and oversees all career services resources (online and hard copy) related to the judicial clerkship and large law firms application process and work with the appropriate faculty committees.
Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of the clerkship program and large law firm placement, and ensures program goals are consistent with departmental and University missions.
Oversees a program to create awareness among large firms in the DFW area and highlight students and programs at the School of Law.
Networks with large firms and employers in the area to educate and promote the School of Law in an effort to increase career opportunities at these firms.
Responsible for budget management of the judicial clerkship program.
Serves as part of the department leadership team for Career Services alongside the Assistant Dean.
Supervises and oversees an Associate Director who will manage day to day office operations while the Director and Assistant Dean are out of the office.
Develops the strategic plan for the department.
Works with the Assistant Dean in budgeting for Career Services.
Formulates policies and procedures for the department.
Supervises and directs activities of project teams.
Ensures that programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations.
Engages in outreach and recruitment of large law firm employers and the judiciary. The Director will manage communications with the judiciary and large firms and represent the law school at employer recruitment meetings and professional association events. The Director will work with the appropriate faculty committees.
Provides career counseling to law students and alumni with a particular focus on judicial clerkships and large firms. The Director is also responsible for general career counseling of 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls and LLM Students on all aspects of legal career and professional development process including reviewing resumes, cover letters, job applications and conducting mock interviews.
Directs on-campus interviews (OCI), resume collects, job postings, and job fairs related to judicial clerkships and large firms.
Directs the administration of the exit survey, graduate employment survey, and year end reports for submission to the National Association of Law Placement, the American Bar Association, and US News and World Report.
Oversees the collection, entry and analysis of exit interview and graduate employment data and in the production of year-end reports for all major functional programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The Director of Career Services is responsible for overseeing many aspects of the operation and administration of Career Services including the judicial clerkship and large law firm employment programs, outreach and recruitment of large law firm employers and the judiciary, and providing general career counseling to law students and alumni with a particular focus on judicial clerkships and large firms. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized problem solver who is able to operate with a large degree of independence.

Salary Range - $95,000 - $110,000 annually
