      This exciting senior leadership position is based at the Bank’s Downtown Manhattan location. The role has oversight of a physical operation and essential staff, therefore onsite presence is expected most of the time. Employees should live within a commutable distance of the Bank.

      The Federal Reserve Bank of New York plays a vital role in our nation’s economy. The Director of Operations in the Law Enforcement Unit will play a crucial role in helping keep the Bank and its people safe. The Director will work with internal and external partners to lead our team of sworn law enforcement officers.

      What we do:

      The Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Unit (The “LEU” or the "Unit") is r esponsible for protecting the people, property, and premises of the New York Fed by performing general patrol and operational law enforcement duties, such as staffing posts, responding to radio calls, screening personnel and packages as they enter and exit the building, issuing badges, and enforcing security policies throughout the building.

      The Unit coordinates periodic testing of equipment such as duress alarms, override functions, motion and entry detection systems and provides situation reports. The LEU assists in the management of command center equipment (AEDs, Cell phones, keys, etc.) and prepares electronic journals, incident reports, and other documents as needed or directed.

      Your role as Director of Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Operations:

      • Lead an organization of 100+ including uniformed Police Officers, the Executive Protection Unit, and the Training Unit. Responsible for managing and providing law enforcement and security services to the Bank.

      • Develop, recommend, and oversee implementation of long-range plans and strategies for the LEU and drive implementation of leading practices, protocols, policies, and programs.

      • Identify and execute initiatives to enhance staff engagement and department morale.

      • Identify, plan, and take actions to create a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.

      • Create strategies and specific objectives for the law enforcement teams to ensure use of up-to-date practices and protocols within an environment and culture that expects and builds supportive, respectful, and trusting team members.

      • Perform people leadership functions such as hiring, staff development counseling, employee performance appraisals, discipline, compensation decisions and other personnel actions.

      What we are looking for:

      • Experience leading a Law Enforcement organization strongly preferred.

      • Demonstrated experience overseeing large scale critical operations, ideally within a complex, mission-driven organization.

      • Track record of successful leadership to drive results and proactively manage change in a complex and dynamic organizational, and technological operating environment.

      • Strong collaboration skills, a focus on positive intent and an interest in ensuring strong relationships with an ability to partner effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.

      • Emotional intelligence, including the ability to build trust in a variety of relationships through candor, reliability, and authenticity as well as the capacity to embrace and draw from diversity and inclusion to improve the quality of outcomes.

      • Excellent change management skills, including advocating, anticipating, and orchestrating change. Creates a team culture that enables staff to achieve results in a changing environment.

      • Ability to satisfy the Federal Reserve System's conflict of interest requirements.

      • Possession of or the ability to obtain U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship.

      Salary Range: $230000 - $300000 / year
