      Job Description Summary:

      Logan Health Medical Center is located in scenic Kalispell, Montana, surrounded by stunning views, recreational opportunities at every turn, and just a short drive to Glacier National Park.

      We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join our team as the Director of Nursing Operations.

      This role will include House Supervisors, Float Pool, Staffing, and Medical Transport Dispatch. This position works collaboratively with assigned leadership to promote a culture that fosters nursing excellence. Provides leadership that is consistent with the core values, mission, ethics, policies and procedures of Logan Health (LH). Exhibits professional leadership that executes strategic goals, quality and exceeds customer satisfaction.

      Qualifications:

      • Current Montana RN license or a multistate compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana, required.
      • Bachelors of Nursing required. Masters preferred.
      • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant nursing leadership experience required.
      • Current Healthcare Provider CPR required as applicable to assigned area(s).
      • CNOR Leadership Certification preferred.
      • Possess working knowledge of the health care environment, health care reform and care delivery systems as they apply to the clinical practices of the assigned area(s).
      • Must employ critical thinking skills, decision-making and judgment using contextual perspective, evidence-based practice, discrimination of the circumstances involved, the application of standards and the use of logical conclusions.
      • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
      • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
      • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

      Drive organizational objectives by operationalizing changes and initiatives effectively and efficiently. Proactively anticipate both the needs of Logan Health and the impact operations has on the organization’s success. Collect and analyze data, prepare and present recommendations, and explain associated benefits and risks for improving operations.

      Job Specific Duties:

      • Provides oversight as well as actively reviews, revises and reevaluates the assigned area(s) expectations as necessary. Provides positive and competent mentoring and education to assigned staff regarding assigned duties. Provides direction to, and ensures accountability of all staff responsibilities. Responsible for core schedules of assigned area(s) in partnership with the staffing office, as applicable to assigned area(s).
      • Accountable for the development and direct oversight of annual departmental operations and budgets. Specifically accountable for meeting or exceeding financial, productivity staffing targets, quality, growth and customer satisfaction targets set forth annually by Logan Health.
      • Responsible for the employee engagement at the department level. Works daily to address staff concerns, ideas for change and makes recommendations along with assigned leadership to timely implement improvement strategies that create a culture of workplace excellence.
      • Exhibits transformational leadership skills and the ability to (a) communicate a shared vision, (b) influence behaviors through coaching and positive role modeling (c) engaging in patient-centered care, (d) monitoring performance expectations, (e) provides constructive feedback and clinical mentoring, and (f) builds teamwork through collaboration.
      • As applicable to assigned area(s): Exhibits structural empowerment as demonstrated by participation and support of shared governance models for (a) professional practice development by clinical nurses, (b) unit council meetings and activities, and (c) peer based committees for safety, ethics, research, evidence-base practice (EBP), quality improvement, clinical review, products, and documentation.
      • Works in conjunction with other department leadership to ensure patient admits, discharges and transfers are completed in accordance with set performance targets as applicable to assigned area(s).
      • Exhibits a demonstrated commitment to the mission and organizational values of Logan Health. Maintains standards of care and adheres to organizational policies and procedures. Maintains a demeanor of innovative and professional leadership, civility, teamwork and customer service while undertaking all tasks and interactions within Logan Health.

      • Promotes customer service through regular interaction with physicians, administrators, clinical staff, patients and the general public in a courteous manner and provides proactive service recovery.
      • Coordinates and/or develops ongoing performance improvement activities for clinical staff and monitors nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements. Participates in the preparation of the Plan of Correction response to an inspection survey, and implements any follow-up QA required for any departmental or clinical allegations and/or findings, as applicable to assigned area(s).
      • As applicable to assigned area(s): Seeks to advance clinical outcomes by (a) participation in data collection efforts as required and endorsed by LH, (b) analysis of outcomes, (c) improvement activities based on the data analysis, and (d) contribution of the reporting improvement activities through designated LH processes. Exhibits knowledge of an application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators, and proactively monitors and implements systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.
      • Participates as a key leader for advancing clinical practice and operations. This position along with clinical care director, will identify and implement evidence-based best practice strategies to advance division goals, culture and workforce strategic activities. In conjunction with assigned leadership is accountable to meet or exceed identified goals.

      Schedule:

      Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
